# privacy policy

## overview

Grok for Discord only processes data when it is asked to do something, a mention, a reply, a right-click fact-check, or a command. It does not passively read your server, and it does not keep a long-term memory of conversations.

This policy describes what the app touches, why, what it keeps, and how to get anything removed.

## what we process

When you invoke the app, it reads the content it needs to answer: the message you invoked it on, a bounded window of recent messages in that channel for context, and any images, files, embeds, polls, stickers, or linked messages that are part of the question.

Alongside that content, the app processes the Discord identifiers required to reply, user IDs and usernames, channel and server IDs, and message IDs.

Processing happens per request. If nobody invokes the app in a channel, it is not reading that channel.

## what we keep

Message content, attachments, and images are used to generate the reply they were requested for and are not stored afterwards. There is no conversation database and no long-term memory.

We keep minimal operational data to run the service: error logs, rate-limit counters, and aggregate usage statistics (for example, command counts per server). These may reference Discord IDs but not message content, and are kept only as long as needed for operations.

Server-level settings, if any are configured, are stored against the server ID until the app is removed from that server.

## what we share

To generate an answer, the relevant content of your request is sent to the AI model provider for inference. For questions needing current information, search queries derived from your request are sent to a web search provider (Exa), and relevant public pages are retrieved.

These providers process the request to produce a response. We do not send them more than the request needs, and we never sell data to anyone.

Your data is not used, by us, to train AI models. Message content obtained through Discord is used for inference on your request only, consistent with Discord's developer policies.

## your rights and choices

Do not invoke the app if you do not want it reading a conversation. Server admins can remove the app at any time, removal stops all processing in that server and deletes its stored server settings.

You can request deletion of any operational data tied to your Discord ID, or ask what we hold about you, by emailing from a way that lets us verify the account. We will respond within 30 days.

## children

The app is not intended for anyone under Discord's minimum age (13 in most countries). We do not knowingly process data from users below that age, if you believe we have, contact us and we will delete it.

## security

Requests are transmitted over encrypted connections, and access to operational data is restricted to the maintainer. No system is perfectly secure, but keeping almost nothing is the best defense, and that is the design.

## changes

This policy may change as the project evolves. The date at the top reflects the latest revision, and material changes will be noted on this page.
